About MSTB
Malaysian Software Testing Board (MSTB) is a national body representing the
industry interests in promoting Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and
software testing as core competencies in the development of IT-dependent
quality products and services.
As a member of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB),
MSTB regulates the accreditation and certification processes for Malaysia. The
certification programs offered by ISTQB syllabus are built upon the best
practices and collective testing knowledge contributed by the testing
practitioners worldwide. Certifications offered by MSTB are Certified Tester
Foundation Level (CTFL) and Certified Tester Advanced Level (CTAL) that are
recognised in all member countries of ISTQB. Unlike some other professional
certification, there is no requirement to renew one’s certification as it is for
a life time.
MSTB also offers the Certified Professional in Requirements Engineering (CPRE)
through its partnership with the International Requirements Engineering Board
(IREB), which provides the core syllabi and guidelines for accreditation and
examination in requirements engineering.
MSTB is also a member of the
Asian Software Testing Alliance (ASTA), a regional alliance comprised of member
countries of ISTQB. The regional headquarters for ASTA is based in Malaysia with
MSTB functioning as its secretariat.

To promote software testing as a respectable profession throughout the ICT
industry in Malaysia.

To propagate the ISTQB tester certification as a standard for K-Workers within
the ICT profession in Malaysia
3.
To promote growth of IT software industry in Malaysia through quality software
that is of world- standard and recognized worldwide.
Mission:
1.
To engage participation of the industry to adopt and adapt testing as integral
part of quality.
2.
Contribute to the supply of K-Workers by providing the skill sets required by
the ICT industry through ISTQB Certification programs.
3.
To contribute to the common body of understanding and knowledge about testing
through participation in ISTQB platforms.

Initiatives
Among the MSTB initiatives is the Malaysia Software Testing Hub (MSTH) programme,
a strategic public-private partnership with the Government of Malaysia (GoM).
The intent of the initiative is to “pilot” an eco-system that demonstrates the
interest of different stakeholders involved and “means” that are required to
ensure a sustainable model to support the MSTH in the future.
MSTH serves as an avenue to identify new opportunities in the global economy
having innovative economic model for high income growth as promoted by the GoM.
Among the sub programmes in the MSTH are as follows:

The Q-Capability programme
Where MSTB builds the capability of software testers and requirements
engineers.

The Q-Lab programme
The first state-of-the-art lab in the country open to all industries with the
objective to promote and facilitate the usage of the testing
technologies/practices and related tools used in delivering quality products.

The Q-Industry programme
Having the objective of propagating the awareness on the importance of Software
Quality Assurance (SQA).

The Q-Portal programme
Where this portal acts as the communication platform where information, business
opportunities and testing services, amongst others, are broadcasted to the
public and testing communities.
